Cedric Hunter Exhibit
Cedric Hunter was scientific illustrator at the South African Museum from 1975 until his retirement 27 years later.
In the early 1980’s Hunter worked closely with Dr. Brett Hendey, then leader of the Langebaanweg Research project, to visualize the Langebaanweg environment and the animals that inhabited it 5.2 million years ago. Hunter’s Riverside Scene featuring a number of animals on the bank of the Palaeo-Berg River is the image most frequently used by and associated with the Langebaanweg fossil site and, in later years, the West Coast Fossil Park.
